and Certified Professional Counselor
My licensing includes being a Certified Professional Counselor and a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner for the State of Nebraska. I have a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology and worked as a Registered Masters Level Psychologist in the state of Kansas. My experience includes working with individuals, couples and families for over 30 years in both inpatient and outpatient settings before setting up my own private practice here in Bellevue, Nebraska for the past 20 years. Here, I continue to provide support for a variety of clientele and develop a wide array of programs.
Mental Health Counseling by Qualified Mental Health Therapist
I have considerable training in anxiety, depression, and family systems work. My special interests include working with families who are influenced by alcohol or addiction, codependency, trauma and abuse disorders, improving self esteem and healthy life planning to cope with the symptoms and grief related to the losses that we experience.
My philosophy over 30 years of experience is that life involves inevitable pain in our being and in the world around us. There are many things that effect our ability to have realistic perspectives of ourselves and others, as well as what we experience in that world. I work within a framework of understanding our pain driven defense mechanisms to develop coping skills that will help clarify individual and/or relational cycles that keep us stuck from progressing and obtaining the life and the quality of relationships we want.
Though I have had continual training in many areas, I have gained a wealth of knowledge from my clients themselves. This has ingrained in my approach, the importance of individualizing treatment to each client using an array of cognitive behavioral and solution oriented therapies. It is my utmost goal to help my clients to find new skills and tools to apply to their situation today, but that they can carry into their lives outside of the office and into their future.
